Gem Candles FAQ’s

Can I choose my jewellery?

No. The jewellery is placed in the wax of each Gem Candle when being made. When candles are packaged to be sent, we do not know what item or value of the jewellery is in each candle. The fun is in opening the surprise package and enjoying the mystery of not knowing what is inside.

Can you put jewellery supplied by me in the candle?

We certainly can! If you want to make it a wedding proposal, or want a specific item in the wax, you can discus this with us and send us your jewellery and we will make sure care is taken and your personalised candle is made as per your requirements. For more information on personalised candles, click HERE .

What if I don't like my jewellery?

We understand there is a risk you may not like the item in your candle, although, you can always use it as a gift for someone else. Dont forget Every large 8oz candle you buy will have jewellery in it, so eventually you are bound to find a piece you love for yourself. Because we are unable to cater to such wide individual tastes, this is why we also include rings, earrings and necklaces to try and cater for as many people as we can.

Gem Candles are Soy based.

Our candles are made with a base ingredient of top quality Ecosoya soy wax, not beeswax or paraffin. EcoSoya Soy is made from pure soybeans and carefully selected botanical oils. We use soy because it is natural, which means it is non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. Using soy also helps those that suffer from asthma and allergies. Soy candles produce 95% less smoke and soot.

Gem Candles are Vegan.

All other ingredients in Gem Candles are vegan and kosher friendly as well. Our unique blend of ingredients are all earth friendly. We do not use palm oil or beeswax in our candles. Our massage ingredients include Shea Butter and a mix of mineral oils keeping our blend all natural. We do NOT use cocoa butter although this is commonly used in many lotions and creams, as there is no absolute that cocoa butter that is derived from the cocoa nut will not cause a problem to those with nut allergies. For this reason and wanting the best blend for our customers we have not skimped on quality and use only the best Shea Butter on the market today.

Do Gem Candles contain Palm Oil?

No! We do not use palm oil in any of our products.

Gem Candles are Environmentally Friendly.

We also only use cotton wicks! No metal cores here. The wick in made out of all natural fibers and they contain no lead or other harmful metals. Lead wicks have been banned in Australia since 1999.

Gem Candles do not contain a color additive. Beware of color candles when using them as a massage candle, the dye used may stain the skin.

Gem Candles are Body Safe.

All Gem Candle ingredients are natural and safe to use on the body.

Soy candles melt 2 degrees above your body temperature so they will not burn the skin. Once the wax has pooled in the container, pour a small amount into the palm of your hand and then continue your massage. Once you realize the wax is not hot enough to burn, then you can enjoy more with dripping slowly on your partners body to add to the heightened pleasure of a Gem Candle massage. Whatever pooled wax you don’t use on your skin will solidify so you can melt it again when you need it. We recommend you pour into your hand and not directly onto the body so that you have a controlled amount and not accidentally pouring much more than needed onto the body, and wasting your massage candle.

Gem Candles have re-useable packaging.

The lovely organza that your Gem Candles are packaged in can be used for a variety of uses when it comes to recycling. Fill them with potpourri or put aside to use as a wrapping for another gift later on.

Gem Candle tins are re-useable. When you have finished your candle you can recycle the tin for other uses by simply washing it out with hot soapy water, leaving it for 24 hours to air dry completely, then you can use it to store other items.

We do not recommend that any food products be placed or stored in the tins after your candle has been completely used.

How to get the most out of your Gem Massage Candles.

It is VERY important to keep your wicks trimmed at all times! The key to a perfect burning candle is not only in how it is made but how it is burned. Never allow your candles to burn for more then 3-4 hours at a time before extinguishing the candle, allowing it to cool, trimming the wick and then re-lighting it. Properly maintaining your wick is a must and the key to a better burning, longer lasting candle. Remember to never burn your candles in any type of draft, such as ceiling fans, AC vents, open windows etc. Following these simple rules will extend the life of your candle and give you hours of enjoyment.

The overall burn time of your candles will be approximately 43hours from our regular sized candle. 8oz – 237mls

Tealight Candles will have an approximate burn time of 4 hours.

Keep in mind, how you look after your candles will depend on how well they will burn.

To Clean Up Spilled Wax.

Gem Candles are made from Soy Wax and as such will wash out with hot water and soap. This makes it easy to clean up any spills and will wash off the body easily in the shower.

Although Gem Candles are easy to clean up, we highly recommend the use of a towel or some other covering over expensive or satin sheets. If unsure if the candles will damage any fabric we recommend you do a spot check first on an area that is not noticeable.

*NOTE* Gem Candles are not recommended for children. Although soy wax melts at a low temperature we cannot guarantee that it will not still be hot to a child’s touch or sensitive on a baby’s skin. Always use care when burning candles and keep away from flammable liquids or fabrics. If you have sensitive skin, we suggest a spot test on your ankle, thigh or wrist to check for any sensitivities before applying to large areas on the body. Gem Candles are all natural but we are not able to foresee every possible allergy. Please enjoy your Gem Candles safely and with common sense.
